💻Strange how, with one click of a button, you can find sties online that you connect with completely, or maybe it's music, or a movie, or a TV show or book, or even a videogame. Not only strange, but sad even, how within the fictional world, that's sometimes where we feel the most at home, the most of ourselves. Perhaps, that's why, anime, videogames, movies and TV shows have been so popular, such an integrated part of our lives. If all these different types of media didn't matter so much to people, they wouldn't have had such a lasting impact on our lives. For some it's a means of an escape from reality for a brief moment, for other's it reminds them of certain times of their lives, for everyone the importance is different, but the fact that they are all still important, is still valid.
Now, were in a time, were the Metaverse and virtual reality, A.I and other forms of technology being integrated into our lives, so technology is only blending even more into our lives. Or the online game, VRCHAT, that gained a huge mass of popularity, or even VTUBER's, basically any means of people escaping reality, and going into a world where they can be whoever they want to be, is becoming more prevalent as time goes on. At one point, during the early 2000's, no one thought that the internet, and cell phones would become a way for us to live our daily lives, we only thought that it was possible in science fiction, not in reality.
My quick thoughts on the Metaverse the one from Facebook, the concept was interesting, but obviously, it's not going so well, people lost interest fast, and now the company is losing money, it's basically all over YouTube at this point. The concept is interesting, but as an actually concept that could work in reality, it has a long way to go.
Do I think technology is good or bad? I think technology is neutral, it's not good or bad, it's how you yourself use it that matters. We certainly have a long way to go with technology, but in some ways, we have come a long way already within the past few decades.
